“Andrew Friend and His Family: The Earliest Pioneers of the Potomac River”
by Dr. Patrick T. Smith and Patty (Friend) Thompson.
(Indexed)
We are pleased to announce the first book in a series about the Friend Family. This book titled “Andrew Friend and His Family: The Earliest Pioneers of the Potomac River “by Dr. Patrick T. Smith and Patty (Friend) Thompson focuses on the first Friends to explore colonial America. The primary goal of this book is to begin to collect and correlate the vast amount of information that has been published about Andrew Friend. It is a difficult to sort between facts of Andrew Friend’s life and family and the logical guesses of past Friend researchers. We hope to generate a discussion about Andrew Friend and his descendents in an attempt to clarify this history. This information, pooled from multiple resources, was gathered through the years and we concede that volumes of information could be added to the work. We openly welcome and encourage any additions or corrections to this information. The book is presented in an outline format, with numerous footnotes to maintain and clarify the lineages. We can be contacted through the FFAA at Friendsville, MD or by e-mail through the FFAA web-site. The ultimate goal of this book is an attempt to collect and more importantly, preserve this information about Andrew Friend and his family before it is lost to time. The cost of the initial printing has been donated to the FFAA. Proceeds from the initial copies and reprints produced by the FFAA will go to the FFAA.
