1978 Friendship News
I found this letter (transcribed) into the newsletter. I couple of words are missing due to the fact that a hole punched was used on the newsletter –for filing in a notebook. I believe this resulted in only one word being questionable -"particular"; noted below as ?particular?. It also appears that the letters contains some words in German; they are contained in parentheses.
“Letter to Philip Friend from children January 13, 1793
Washington County, PA, Pitt. Twp.
(Slnui Lit) this comes with due respect to you and to let you know that we are all well at present, but you know how long that may be the case. As we are surrounded with the smallpox and we are now same plantation and we can’t tell how (sune-Lune) may be with us. Therefore we think it advisable to decline our intention of coming to see you for some time. We would be fond to see you (heat) if it would be convenient. We would wish to say more, but think it proper to conclude as it is in a (straing Tung) till another opportunity with saying we wish to (kem-air) as becometh your most dutif u l children, Jo and Cathren Walter. P. S. We would wish to be remembered to all relations in ?particular? and friends in general. (On reverse side Johanna Nanial)”
