The Open House of May 31 and June 1 was a great success even though Mother Nature refused to cooperate with us by sending us several inches of rain Saturday morning, along with a tornado touch down a mere 6 miles away........The people still came to see the museum and share their family history and friendship.
Members of the Board of Trustees appreciates everyone's efforts in making this a successful function. A special thanks goes to FFAA President, Becky Korns for her extra efforts to provide two days of camaraderie for the people of Garrett County, MD, PA and WV.
The raffle of a beautiful woodburning "The Blacksmith Shop", made by artist Dennis Lashley, was won by Joseph Thomas.

I would also like to comment on the recent Open House at our National Headquarters in Friendsville, MD. I was greatly pleased at the amount of people who came to this event. Like Pat said, the weather on Saturday wasn't the greatest....but that didn't seem to matter. I was very surprised at how many local people had never visted our Museum and Library before that day. We served a lot of hot dogs, cookies and lemonade those two days. But I'm hoping the visitors remember more than the refreshments. I would like to invite those of you who may be traveling this summer or fall in the Western Maryland area, to stop by our headquarters and check out our wonderful musuem and genealogy library. Our hours are posted on our website. And, if your are coming through the area at a time when we aren't open, please call ahead and we will do all that we can to open our builidng for your visit. Becky
