Can anyone identify Joseph?

Joseph J. Friend married Isabella M. Parritt August 30, 1860
Civil War pension affidavit given June 13, 1891 by Isabella M. Parritt Friend’s sister, Mary, states Isabella always went by the name of Maria I. Friend and that due to some clerical error in the Civil War records, Joseph J. Friend’s name appears as Joseph L. Friend on all records.
March 25, 1879, Office of application for Pension N. 262197. Joseph “j” Friend enrolled on the 13th day of August 1862 at Putnam Co. in Co. D, 97th, Reg. IN volunteers to serve 3 years, mustered into service as a Corporal on the 20th day of Sept 1862 in Indianapolis.
On the Muster Roll of Co. D of that Regiment for the months of – from muster in to June 30th 1863 he is reported Joseph “L.” Friend, present. July and Aug 1863- above with leave on sick furlough. Regt. Was in action at Jackson Mississippi July 16th, 1863. Name is not borne on the Regimental Return for July 1863 as absent for any cause. Sept. and Oct. 1863 Sergt. –present and so borne to Oct 21st 1864
He was wounded in finger of left hand in action at Jackson, Mississippi July 16, 1863. Discharged to date Dec. 15, 1864 from promotion to 1st Lieut. same Co and Regt.
A Declaration for Original Invalid Pension:
On this 11 day of October A.D. one thousand eight hundred and seventy eight personally appeared before me, County Clerk, the same being a Court of Record of the County and State aforesaid, Joseph “L.” Friend, a resident of Tuscola Twp County of Douglas, State of Illinois, who being by me duly sworn according to law, on his solemn oath, deposes as follows, to wit:
I am the identical Joseph “L.” Friend who was enrolled on the 13th day of August, 1862 in Company D of the 97 Regiment of Indiana Vol’s., commanded by Captain James Sueley and I was honorably discharged at Washington, DC on the 9th day of June 1865 and my age is now 40 years. While in the service aforesaid, and in the line of my duty I received the following disability; to wit:
Lost the index finger of my left hand and grip of hand, a greater part, at Battle of Jackson, Mississippi on or about the 5th day of July 1863, being at the time a Corporal after battle 1st Sergeant.
I was treated in field hospital for a few days and then sent home on furlough and on return, was promoted to First Lieutenant (Dec. 1864)
Joseph further states on the declaration that he was a farmer and he signed his name as Joseph .L. Friend
On the 25th day of November in Harrison County, Iowa a “Declaration for the increase of an invalid pension” was made by Joseph L. Friend. He states that he is a resident of Harrison County, Iowa. Joseph is asking for an increase in his pension of $2 per month. It is interesting to note that a witness to this declaration is Levi F. Friend.
Kingman Co. Kansas, July 21, 1890, Maria I. Friend, 47 years, resident of Nashville, Kingman Co. Kansas (four miles from Nashville) applied for widow’s pension of Joseph L. Friend, who died from diabetes and rheumatism June 28, 1895 at Loveland Lower.
She was married under the name of Maria I. Perritt, at Manhattan, Indiana. She states there are no children under 16 years of age living with her.
Dec. 30th 1890, Clerk of the Court, provided true record of marriage license for Joseph J. Friend and Isabella M. Parritt and shows that on Sept. 1, 1860 the certificate was returned and files in Court at Putnam Co. Indiana. Clerk of the Putnam Circuit Court gave written testimony that Joseph L. Friend and Joseph J. Friend were one and the same.
Disbursing Division, May 19, 1923 “The name of the above described pensioner who was last paid at the rate of $30 per month to April 4, 1923 has this day been dropped from the roll because of death.
