Hi. I'm looking for any information on my 2nd ggf, Jacob Friend 1843 to 1897 (or about), born in Newton Co MO. (Newton Co was later divided into McDonald County). No real idea of his parents, although I THINK Polly Friend of McDonald Co was his grandmother. Pat Thompson had replied to me once when I thought that John D Friend was his father, as his will listed a son Jacob, wife Milly and daughter Polly and Angeline. I still think Jacob is tied to this family, as he named one of his daughters, Mary Angeline, (my ggm). Any help would be much appreciated!

I do have more info that might be helpful for my inquiry. I believe that Augustus Friend was Jacob Friend's grandfather. Augustus wasn't shown in Newton Co census in 1850, so he died between 1840 and 1850, when Polly Friend was listed as the head of household. On the MO genealogy website, Augustus (A.J.) Friend was listed as one of the first settlers in Newton Co (later McDonald COunty) in around 1830. There were numerous Friends listed in 1840 census being Jesse, John, John D., AJ. I'm trying to link this line of Friends of Marion Co. Ark. Does anyone recognize any of these names?

You might like an invitation to the Friend Family Association of America Document Archive site (at MyFamily.com site) where there are other researchers familiar with the Friends of this region.
If so, send me your first and last name, along with your email address and I will send you an invitation that will allow you access.
